FAQs
In Northern Ireland, most people are entitled to free NHS care from their registered GP. A private GP (General Practitioner) is a doctor who charges patients directly for appointments and healthcare services.
Like any GP, we listen to your health concerns and provide diagnosis, advice, and treatment for a range of conditions. At Loughview Health, all consultations are face-to-face and arranged at your convenience.
Patients choose to see us for many reasons — ease of access, flexible appointment times, or for second opinions. We’re happy to support you however we can.
All our GPs are registered with the GMC and remain on the NI Performers List. We also complete annual appraisals and attend regular training to stay current with medical best practices.
Unfortunately, we cannot access your NHS GP records. If you're seeking a second opinion or need information for a medical, please bring any relevant letters or test results with you, or upload them in advance of your appointment.
No. Appointments are offered on a one-off basis, and registration is not required to be seen by our private doctors.
Appointments can be booked through our online booking system. We offer:
- 15-minute appointments – Ideal for urgent issues such as sore throats, colds, or follow-ups.
- 30-minute appointments – Recommended for initial consultations, including mental health concerns.
- 45-minute appointments – Suitable for those with multiple issues or who want more time with the GP.
Follow-up appointments are available as needed and charged according to length. Our service is flexible — you're free to return to us or follow up with your NHS GP if preferred.
Yes. Our GPs see children from birth. However, appointments must be booked by a responsible adult. Patients must be over 18 to book their own appointment.
We understand the importance of a supportive environment. While we can't guarantee chaperone availability, we will do our best to accommodate requests. You're also welcome to bring a family member or companion to your appointment.
To respect everyone’s time and avoid delays, we adhere strictly to booked time slots. If more time is needed, a follow-up appointment can be arranged at an additional cost. Thank you for understanding.
Yes. We can refer to trusted private specialists to help you access timely care. We can also issue urgent NHS referrals if clinically necessary, but we do not provide routine NHS referrals.
Referral letters and printed prescriptions issued during your consultation are included in the appointment fee. Requests made after the appointment carry a charge:
- £50 per referral letter
- £25 per prescription
If you receive a private prescription, you are responsible for the cost of the medication at the pharmacy.
Our clinicians prescribe antibiotics only when clinically appropriate, following NHS guidance. We do not prescribe medication on request alone.
No. We do not prescribe or administer Schedule 1–3 drugs, benzodiazepines, gabapentinoids, or sleeping tablets. Requests for these will be declined.
If your appointment is for a specific medication, please bear this in mind to avoid disappointment and loss of the appointment fee.
We currently do not offer interpretation services. If you expect any language or communication challenges, we recommend bringing a companion to assist you during your appointment.
We offer transparent, time-based pricing:
- 15 minutes – £75
- 30 minutes – £130
- 45 minutes – £225
We believe this approach ensures you get the time and care you need.
Yes. If we’ve previously prescribed medication for you and it remains clinically appropriate, we can issue a repeat without the need for another appointment.
Prescriptions can be posted or sent to your preferred pharmacy. A repeat prescription carries a fee of £25 (excluding medication costs).
